In this workshop, we achieve the following objectives:
  • Equip individuals and teams with the skills and mindsets to enhance their ability to navigate diverse cultural settings for an effective collaboration and communication
  • Explore and recognize different and shared cultural values, behaviors and communication styles to promote sensitivity and respect
  • Create an environment that fosters inclusive practices that embraces and appreciates diverse perspectives

  • Introduction to Intercultural Competence: Establish a foundational understanding of the key elements required for effective intercultural interactions
  • Intercultural Competence (IC): The five stages of IC, where am I on the continuum
  • Exploring Cultural Dimensions: Explore seven cultural dimensions and build adaptive ability to respond to diverse work practices, behaviors and understand values
  • Cultural Awareness: Provide strategies on how assess challenges and resolve them with IC
  • Communication Across Cultures: Explore high and low context communication
  • Culture-Based Dynamics: Understand the impact that culture has on team dynamics and performance
  • Stereotypes and Biases: Address unconscious biases and mitigation approaches in collaboration
  • Conflict Resolution Across Cultures: Explore tools and techniques to resolve culture specific conflicts and learn how to address them respectfully

Target Group

The Intercultural Competence workshop is designed for professionals across various roles and departments within your organization, including:
  • Leaders: Leaders who need to lead and manage diverse teams across various cultural contexts
  • Team members: Professionals and team members who work with multicultural teams that require the tools and techniques to navigate cultural differences and continuously foster effective communication and collaboration
  • Diverse business functions including Commercial, Legal, R&D, People and Culture: Team members who wish to promote and implement inclusive work practices, communication and and policies across cultures

Methodology

Before the workshop:

  • Intercultural Development Inventory(IDI): Prior to the workshop, an IDI assessment can be conducted to assess the current status and experience of participants (Optional)
  • Pre-Workshop Survey: Prior to the workshop, the participants complete a survey to highlight their strengths, knowledge, challenges and expectations for the workshop

During the workshop:
1- 2 Day Virtual or Face-to-Face Workshop /Customized to clients’ needs

  • Facilitator-led Sessions: Activities, talks and reflections on the participant challenges and solutions
  • Self-Reflection: Individuals reflect on their own cultural background and identify areas for adaptation
  • Interactive Talks: Insights on intercultural competence across regions and application to participants’ needs
  • Case Studies: Case studies with successful intercultural collaboration strategies and behaviors that can be adapted to the participants´ individual context
  • Group Activities: Breakout sessions that identify and explore interculturally competent communication, collaboration, PM and leadership


After the workshop:

  • Participant Application of Learning: The workshop goes beyond theory; emphasizing the practical application of Intercultural Competence as a social skill to enhance collaboration, communication and business performance in the participants` contexts
  • Certification: Upon completion of the workshop, the participants receive a certificate of workshop completion and a badge demonstrating successful completion of the Intercultural Competence Workshop

Summary: Intercultural Competence

Participants assess and develop their Intercultural Competence (IC) based on the IDI Assessment. Working through the five stages of IC and exploring the behaviors and mindsets, the participants gain a deep understanding of the what it means to broaden one`s perspective, remain authentic and engage in adaptive behavior when working across cultures. Diverse cultural dimensions across regions are explored, and participants learn to respond to work practices, behaviors, and values with intercultural sensitivity and awareness.

The participants explore strategies for empathic communication across cultures and gain a deeper understanding of the impact of intercultural competence on team dynamics and performance. The participants address unconscious biases affecting collaboration and acquire tools for effective and empathic conflict resolution across cultures.

The 1-2 day, face-to-face, or virtual workshops, featuring facilitator-led sessions, self-reflection, and interactive talks and exercises are customized to the participants’ needs. Participants engage in group activities, breakout sessions, and case studies to enhance their levels of competence when working across diverse teams and regions.

The participants’ intercultural competence is enhanced through self-awareness, awareness of the continuum of intercultural competence, practical application of concepts, real-world examples in intercultural competence.
